Can someone tell me the name of the biting flies on the backside of St. Jo? Got nailed last yr. and had problems getting over it, got nailed 4x Sat. and it looks like a repeat performance. Wanted to do a little research, if I could find out what they're called. Thanks in advance.

Sorry, I guess a description might help. They're about halfway between a housefly and a horsefly, sizewise. And darkish grey color if I remember right. Seems like their wings folded tight against their body. I looked at pics of deer flies and the ones I saw, the wings were held at about a 45 degree angle. Thanks again

Eat garlic cloves a day or two before you go out. Will keep most bloodsuckers away. It worked for me Montana with the flies up there and Mosquitos down here. You do have to eat enough that it seeps from your pores.
Roast them a little before hand to knock the edge off. _________________

x2 on dog flies, also called stable flies. Looks almost like a house fly and about the same size, but the stable fly is a blood sucker. They're not frequent in my home area but on fishing trips to Canada those suckers will drive you nuts in a boat. In that setting they'll attack your ankles, biting as fast as you can swat 'em.
