it was at bob hall pier. we like it there and feel comfortable there. many people are very nice and friendly there. there are people no matter where you fish that do stuff all the time but i have never seen them stomp or kill them and then throw back. i just wanted to let people know it happened so that if does again they can report it. i can even describe the man i saw stomping the fish. he was the only one who stomped. most slammed them on the concrete. he had bleach blonde hair slicked down with a moustache and i think a goatee about 40 to 50 yrs old. had a dark colored shirt with some writing on it either black or dark brown.

Wife and I were at the pier from about 6 PM to 7:15, saw several reds and kings pulled in --did not see any abuse, but as we were leaving the pier two game wardens showed up--one stationed at the entrance and one starting to walk down towards the T Head. FWIW

Day late and a dollar short. Just remember - when you need law enforcement in seconds, the law will be along in a few minutes.

K im 31 now I'm no spring chicken anymore but I stand 6 ft tall and I weigh 250 give or take 10 pounds I look intimidating and mean sometimes I would have had no problem throwing that bleach blonds ferry over the t head and having a good old fashion bar fight on the end of the pier I can take about 2-3 guys depending on how big they are but what saddens me and pisses me off is that majority of the people who buy fishing equipment and licenses the money goes back into tpw but yet no game warrden is around and these guys are smashing young reds that were more and likely stocked in the bays who yes will grow up to be dinner or bulls what a shame

Can't believe that, but that's the way life goes. Gotta report them to authorities and hope they respond in time..

Maybe this is the guy some of you want for game warden. Smile

There are six game wardens in Nueces Co. Not many for the amount of activity that goes on down there. GW's don't have to do paperwork or go to court or any of that other menial stuff that regular ol' peace officers have to do. Or do they?

As much as I want to protect our resources, I don't think we should equate a game violation (responding in seconds) with that involving the lives and well being of PEOPLE.

These guys work hard, put their lives on the line daily, care about our resources as much as we the complainers do, but fall just short of being SUPERMAN.

Bigrock... I've never heard of Mertzon, TX before, and a quick search on Google Earth puts you WAY out in the middle of nowhere!!! Shocked

Any place that is "on the way to San Angelo" is pretty darn far from the coast. Laughing

kind of agree with what you are saying, Bigrock...

but at the same time, what about a place that is always getting complaints, sort of a "hot spot" and it's been like that for years....don't you think the GW's would put a little more pressure on there since it is a very well known "hot spot"...

...and I kinda agree with what you're saying. Very Happy .....

but there are several "hotspots" in the Nueces Co. area as well as non-fishing related duties. In Irion Co. there are several rural roads that are known hotspots for night time poaching. The GW knows it, and patrols them regularly, but the miles involved means he can't possibly cover each of them every night...and then he still has his daytime duties as well. One violation and he is, for all practical purposes, done for the night if he has to transport anyone to the hoosegow.

CS....little known fact...the earth's axis runs right through the middle of the Irion Co. courthouse. Shocked Laughing Laughing Laughing

Maybe the gw responds a few times and finds that it's not as bad as people make it sound.
