A little late on the report, but.....

Fished south packery Friday afternoon for snapper and trout. Hooked up on a medium sized Tarpon (while throwing a 1/4oz jig with a 2" mojarra on the back) which quickly started peeling line off my light tackle and jumping. On the second magnificent jump he managed to throw my jig off, but it was my first time ever to personally see much less hook up on a tarpon so I was stoked! Soon after I was fishing the rocks for mangroves and hooked up on a second, smaller tarpon which I was able to land and get a picture of! Thanks so much to Jay for using his Iphone to help me get a picture and sending it to me! The little tarpon was then released to fight another day. Cool I also made it off the jetty with a fair number of Mangos.

I almost didn't go fishing that day. I just happened to have to come into corpus and I had my pole and tackle with me. Lesson learned, go fish when you can. You're guaranteed to catch nothing if you don't go and you may be in for a surprise if you do!

I was amazed at all of the colors when I pulled mine out of the water! I had always thought they were straight silver, but this guy had a beautiful array of blues green and reds! I was also able to get a scale from mine. Definitely one of my favorite fish now!

On my face being blocked out, I just tend to be a little on the cautious side across the board with any pictures I post online. Besides the tarpon is what you want to see not my ugly mug Laughing If you didnt guess already I have a smile on my face!

Ill see if I can get the photos of the mangroves I caught up later.
