Hi everyone - new here, though post more in the Austin-based fishing forums.
We are heading down for my son's 9th birthday and want to go fishing. We will be staying near Flour Bluff so PINS and Port A are easy to get to as well as BHP.
We like to go go clems and red dot in the past for bank fishing.
Any recommendations for good locations to fish from the bank? Or any good fishing guide recommendations for the 2 of us?
Thanks in advance!

Welcome! Lots of places to choose like the inside of Packery, Kate's hole etc. The surf may be blown out with weed but you can always try Bob Hall. Look for He who shall not be mentioned's tie dye shirt _________________ Like Corpusfishing.com on Facebook! |

Welcome! I have seen quite a few good reports from BHP, but I don't know what gear you have. There is a guide page on the front of this website. Capt Singleterry always posts great report off the Laguna. _________________ JJ |

We hav standard basic stuff. A few pin cast reels with line 12-30# test. Standard drop poo poo stuff with hooks 2 to 6 in size. Plus popper corks and such. We do have some gulp lures, never had luck with those in Corpus, but enjoyed success in Florida on them.
We tend to use squid or cut bait in the past. Thinking of getting a bait bucket for live shrimp this time.
We are about 120 miles from Corpus! Thanks for the suggestions so far |

We fished Clem's last night and had fun pulling in a whole lot of hardheads. None particularly large.
Off to Causway / red dot piers now. |

get some live bait go down past Billings bait fish from the bank for schooling drum. Or fish bites like Tyler said. You are in the wrong place. Watch for people fishing the area in the day. Then go back at night when they are all gone home. _________________ I LIKE MINE FRIED. |

| Pack up and take the information given. Only thing you're gonna catch at red dot and causeway right now is a sunburn. Maybe a stingray or hard head if you get lucky. |

Well, I managed to not see this until this morning. Hard to see some of this on my phone.
Anyway, we did try a few other places and caught some small drum both at Clems as well as over near Packery Channel at the 361 bridge. It was fun to see the schooling fish, though they were generally beyond our ability to cast from the shores, at least where we were standing yesterday morning.
We will be back soon! And thank you for the suggestions and this site - we are still learning a lot on where to fish and how/what to fish in corpus. |
