Do any yakkers on here know of kayak trails around the state? Doesn't really matter where. I've seen some on TPWD's site but was wondering which are best, if anyone has been on any of them and what they're like. Now that my boy is 5, we figured it's time he hit the water with us, do some camping, and have some fun.

I'm open to other suggestions on some cool stuff to do around the state...cheaper is better. If anyone knows of good camping or hiking places, please let me know some of those too.

Thanks,

They have a list of state parks where you can kayak canoe.

I see you are from Austin.

For a paddling , camping, and fishing combo type trip -- you might try the two Bastrop paddle trials on the Colorado River.

Scroll down this link to find them:

Thanks,

Lighthouse Lakes kayak trails on 361 in Aransas Pass. While doing some scouting on Saturday I saw probably a dozen kayaks in that area. The trails sound just like what your looking for. However, no camping allowed. I'm from the Bluff and have never kayaked the area (hence the reason for the scouting in Aransas Pass). I'm sure it would be easy to find the local camping areas from the google.

You can camp all along that area by LHL off 361.
