Waded deadman's area with a couple of buddies on Saturday with plastic up to 4in all dark colors with chartreuse paddle tails. I used my go to Strike King 4in glass minnow Black neon and blue crab cartreuese paddle tail. We were done by Noon. Water was a greenish with some stain. Great day to be on the water. Pushing North with plastic since buddy refuses to fish with croaker! lol!

24in Trout

6 Reds/11 Trout

Wow looks like a great day on the water! That's one of the best catches I've seen over the weekend. Thanks for the report.

this is it made by strike king it's a glass minnow with a blue paddle tail it's called Blue Crab. Roy's is the only place that carries them locally. and yes reds and trout love'm. I also use the black neon color with chartreuse paddle tail as well.
I lost a 26-28in red on the black neon...

Well done. I tried to get out there by boat on Thursday but only got about a third of the way there before it got too shallow.

How far was the walk out there? Was it hard packed all the way? Where did you park? I may just try my luck wading out later in the week.

google maps or google earth on your android/iphone can get you there. At the mouth of ccbay and deadman's area there's a gut that's deep enough for you to get in. And the wade isn't bad at all and it's all packed with grassy patches.

This is basically how I tried to get in using google maps. It is pretty wide straight in from the ICW. At about a third of the way in I kept getting hung up and I was hugging the markers all the way in. I didn't even make it to the power lines. It might just be that my little flat bottom, which doesn't do well in two feet or less, wasn't capable. I was hoping to get through a little further as it looks like it widens up a bit right before it opens up into hole.

I'm definitely going to give it another shot.

Was there a certain area or bank that worked well for you?

Thanks for the tips on the artificials. I've just now started using them and I'm clueless as to what works. I've always used shrimp with moderate success and occasionally croaker.

I have never been to deadman's before. Do you just wade around the big hole and cast into it? Can you drift it by boat? I am interested in trying it sometime soon.
