My friend Caleb and I went to Bob Hall standpipe Tuesday for some spearfishing before the wind started back up. Water clarity was not as good as last week, but was workable. We ended up with 10 spades before I bumped my head on a barnacle-encrusted pipe (ouch) and started bleeding in the water. As it turns out barnacles and my scalp don't make a good combination. Oh well, it's healing nicely now, and I can brush my hair, so it's all good. Caleb had already met a 4' blacktip face to face earlier when it ran through a school of blue runners and almost collided with his facemask, so we went ahead and called it a day. Lots of fun, and we'll do it again when weather allows.

LOL... I am pretty sure I met your friend Caleb. I was fishing right next to where you guys were parked (a yellow Nissan Frontier). Caleb came over after he got in and told me about his encounter with the black tip.
It's a small world... |

That was us. Normally I might come over and say hi, but I had a nice headache working at that point and wanted to get home to clean up the cuts. |

At first we were looking for the big ones, but I decided to shoot whatever we could get. Most were dinner plate or less, and one or two were bigger. We saw some relly nice ones, but they were hanging out of range.
Anyone ever eat Bermuda Chub? There as a huge one in the rig. I was willing to cook him to find out; never tried one. My spear bounced off his gillplate just before I hit my head. |

LOL! Believe it or not, you are not the first one to hit the crossmember! My buddy jon had to get 5 staples after his second dive the first time we went out there.
He is a "special" boy! |

Bermuda chub is one of those fish you cook on a cedar plank then toss the fish and eat the plank. I tried it fried and baked, if you can find a good way to prepare it let me know. Heck, I haven't even had any luck using it as chum. _________________ Live like you're dying |

If that chub is what I am calling a chub, they are not fit to eat.
But, put one on live and free line it offshore near any decent sized barracuda and hold on. It has been my experience the barricuddas will slice them in half in a nano second, eat half, and return for the rest.
No chub too big for those guys. |

Small world, drunkswimmer.
I was driving the boat that towed y'all to the beach that day! We were checking out the rig in a powerboat and your buddy was holding his head, unable to paddle his kayak. At least he got his injury because a fish pulled him into the rig. I just midjudged the space. |
