In Florida Spanish Mackerel are not a gamefish and a great bait for kings and zharks. But for some odd reason they are a gamefish in texas. Makes no sense to me....its not like there is a shortage of Spanish anywhere. Thier are millions of them. Blue Fish are bassically the same and not a game fish. But rules are rules. Oh well plenty of other baits to use I.E. blue fish,blue runners, shad, skipjack,perch and lures.

Johntx14 you weren't driving down pins Saturday evening were you? Some people stopped as I was fighting a blacktip. One guy asked what I was using which was sheepshead. I'm just curious if it was you or not. I've heard of people using them as bait so I paddled one out I caught earlier and about 30 minutes later I was hooked onto a 5'6" blacktip.

i think it would be funny if i were using a legal bait and someone was scratching their head wondering why i wasnt getting a ticket by a game warden. Very Happy
