Took the kids and FIL camping Friday night, and with all the rain forecast, we moved the tractor out of its shed and set up the tent in there.

It turned out to be a good decision... it rained off and on all night, but the tent stayed nice and dry. The kids enjoyed a hotdog dinner before the rain started, and we slept well under a noisy aluminum roof in the rain.

I got up early and walked (too wet to drive) the mile to the back of the property to seek yet another pig. I found one, a sickly looking boar, shuffling along looking like a furry Eyore (the depressed character from Winnie the Pooh). Upon insertion of a .308 into his cranium, he improved his outlook on life and died. This one was left in the brush because something was not right here. (no pics, was raining hard and not much light)
I hiked back to my sleeping offspring (FIL was up and tending the fire), and we made breakfast for the kids (and some GREAT coffee). We worked and played through the rain this morning, and after lunch it was dry enough to let the kids shoot some targets. Hannah still isn't big enough to handle the rifles (she's a petite little gal), but she tears it up with the .22 pistol! Matthew and I teamed up to clean most of the paint off the flipper targets, and then we all worked on cleaning up around our normal picnic grounds while the roads dried enough to drive out.

I don't know what Matthew was doing, but he looked like Gandolf the Muddy back there!

Good job! Those kids will remember those camping trips all of their lives and it will instill in them a true respect for the outdoors and everything nature provides.

Looks like fun stuff much better than the standing and cleaning in the rain we did at Big Shell yesterday! Thanks for the report.
