Went out about 11AM to all my usual local spots and only got 1 bite the whole time. It landed this 18" trout.

Photobucket

I guess I got bad Karma for going fishing on Valentine's day and leaving the wife at home.lol

Happens everytime. I find that my best fishing is when my mind is totally clear of honey dos.

I had similar luck today too. Definitely bad mojo after I woke up the lady at 5:30am when I was getting ready to fish. Plus the conditions weren't what I expected at all and the fish didn't cooperate...

So, instead of fish for dinner tonight I may pick up some lobster tails or some of big shrimp - both are on sale at HEB if you want to treat the Mrs. right Wink

Happy Valentines Day

Went to the local meat market and picked up a 2" thick boneless ribeye. Butterflied it almost all the way through. When you open it up, it looks just like a heart. Add a couple of lobster tails, a bottle of wine and you are set. Maybe she'll let me go fishing tomorrow.

thats when i got out on the water, they bit for me

days like today my favorite bait to throw is DOA shrimp(didn't work today) or gulp on a small quality j hook, just hooked through the head or tail. let it sink to bottom reel once every 5 to 10 seconds they will hit it on the fall, you go through them pretty quick though....

I can tell you where the 14.99" trout are at. The Boat #@$%. It was still fun but only one decent keeper.

I have an awesome wife. I also went and took 100 cuts of BP this afternoon to get ready for the softball season which starts in 2 weeks. When I got home I cooked up some venison guisada with guacamole and some ice cold, dressed Coronas. She doesn't like restaurants on holidays so she enjoyed her homemade meal.

Never thought of that before Zia. But I now have some deer ham steaks in the freezer that have "venison guisada" written all over 'em! Thanks for the idea.
