That's funny because something like that actually happened to my dad when he was younger. He was fishing offshore with my Grandpa when they hooked something monster.
Hours later, it ended up being a monster...plastic bag, lol. Dad said it was close to the size that would fit a mattress or something.

I remember my father caught a Molson in Lake Champlain (Vermont) with a worm hook. He also drank it shortly thereafter.

I saw a video of someone catching a five gallon bucket once. Very Happy

Cough pork...fee..cough~! Very Happy

Wish people would learn how to throw a line STRAIGHT on a pier and not at a freaking 45* angle. What color fish bits are people using and whos got sea lice? I need to break in my new 5600 C4. Smile

Fat chance on that ever happening.......................... that's why I too don't fish piers and also why I bought a boat!!!! As is often repeated here and elsewhere, "ya can't fix stupid". Even worse: some of these people VOTE!!!!!! Shocked Rolling Eyes Embarassed

Catching big drum on 10 to 12 lb test is fun for a lot of people but hooking on to a fish that big on a pier may piss off some people.

When I first saw this post and it was spelled like it was I was thinking it was the Causeway Pier over at Copano Bay. After all the comments I think you are correct on the name.

Anybody heard any reports from the Causeway Pier in Lamar?

Come on dude, you don't have to insult all the special people out there. They could perform the job ten times better than what "our leader" has so far. Wink

I fought a rock for about 10 minutes on a Dolphin docks party boat. Everybody was convinced that I had a "big fish on" until I brought it to the surface.

I don't get it: "dead" things don't fight back, as in no surges or runs straight away or side to side and no line going slack when they come your way. I can't say that I've never reeled in some BS, but I KNEW that it wasn't a fish long before it came to the "net".......................... Laughing Laughing Laughing

Even when it's a crab, which is basically dead weight, the line is usually moving to one side or the other and if you stop reeling you can feel that there's something NOT dead on the other end! Wink
