I plan to write about PINS plan to try to fix the 4-wheel drive ruts on the mud flats behind the dunes. And I'd like to get a sense from you guys how you feel about all this.
Some folks suggest that the best way for PINS to fix the problem is to deny access to the back road and the road to Yarborough. Of course, PINS says they have no plans at this time to restrict access by closing those roads.
I understand that trust is an issue, with good reason. But if you have questions or concerns you'd like PINS officials to address, please list them in your response to this post. I'll pass them along.
thanks

I can sure see them restricting access to the back road. For one there have been some YAHOOS in the past that have torn up those flats. Unfortunately I think it will prevent law abiding folks from using the area. The best thing I think would be to have bollards placed in those windflat spots outside of the back road. I would also like to see legal parking areas where you could go on foot behind those bollards within a reasonable distance to places like the Graveyard. The cost might be a bit high but it hasn't prevented the park from placing bollards in those washover areas in the 50's.

Park staff have installed 140 bollards at Yarborough pass and 81 bollards at various openings in the fore dune ridge south of big shell beach per a November 4, 2011 news release, see -
