anyone see or use one of these? i have been looking at getting one before the weekend and cant seem to find any locally in Austin. have you guys seen these in the corpus area at all? i used the original one once and it was great but i think the compact one would be much better for the car then the big bulky original one but if i have to i can make it work.

I bought one for my son. It's nice and works fairly well but I don't think it'll hold up as well as the originals for long term use. The tent portion separates from the cot so you can quite literally have two pieces. The top has fiberglass poles rather than the aluminum bars so it's a little more susceptible to high winds, but we haven't had any problems with it, sticks up a good bit higher so if you like to sit up in the cot it's good for that. One thing that I do like is the legs get the cot portion up a lot higher off the ground so you can load bunch of stuff underneath you. I took it one time camping on the island out of Port O'Connor and my dog seemed quite comfy sleeping under the cot.

Do you know where to get one at? The academy up here in Austin had them but I haven't been able to find any lately.

Thanks for the info guys. I'm trying to avoid a Cabelas stop on the way through. They want almost 200 for a cot tent just because it gas there name on it. It would be nice to pick one up for 140-150. Anything in the corpus area?

I ended up getting it for him online with some weird free shipping deal. That poor company had to lose money on that transaction or break even at best, cheapest price I found + free shipping. This was when they first came out. I've not seen them at any of the local Academy stores or Bass Pro, but I haven't been up to the camping area at Bass Pro for a while so if you're rolling through here on your way down you may call them up and ask... or I think you can order online and have free shipping to the store. Cabela's probably does that too.
