Tide charts, moon phase, wind forecast (like on Iwindusrf.com) and barometric pressure chart which shows past pressure and forecasted pressure. Water temps and weather forecast based on your GPS coordinates.
All stuff I look at, but have to go to numerous spots to get it. |

| nope need everybody's input on this right now its really high up in the air but im getting an internship with somepeople who have compiled a database of what fish eat and where 700+ species of fish was last count, hes thinking about making a fishin app and i told him id try and help so right now im trying to think about what is required by fishermen and what is not wanted, so im taking a survey of sorts to get a feel for what the average fisherman wants in an app |

| Also moon calendar and best times to fish. A section to log catches with the ability to add photos and maybe a link to coastal webcams. |

After a few years, I have discovered that "waterproof" is my main requirement. Good luck with that one. _________________

Can you program an alarm that beeps if you come within 500 yards of active fisherman minding their own business on a weekday and 250 yards on the weekend??? _________________

| I think a map where users could post/view fishing spots would be neat. The spots could be marked with info about them, like coordinates, depth, bait, etc |

Pretty much this.
Also, have a marine forecast and access to something like NOAA's buoy weather station system for accurate and up to date Gulf conditions. _________________ I'd rather be fishing |

Rob and chaz made some good points. Adding "hot" fishing locations based on the current conditions would help those out of towners or those new to fishing find some decent spots to fish. If the data can be gathered from past conditions this would help people detemine depths and time of day to fish in conjunction with the other info(moon,tides,etc.). Sounds like a good idea instead of people having to look up 3 different websites for all of this kind of info. Just my .01. After catching more fish maybe I will add another .01.

| well heres what we have so far im working with a scientist who has compiled a data base over 20 years on the stomach contents of fish also were they were caught and weight, length, so forth (some 700+ species) and a lot are game fish and he is thinking about making a website and possibly..possibly a fishing app but the problem right now is funding so a lot of it is up high in the air so i thought id go ahead and do some survey for him and let him know what the average fisherman wants and if this is actually a practical tool, what i have found out so far is that it is but it also needs to include weather tides and now hes thinking about making this to were others can log their catches and this could make a large database for both scientists and fishermen be it pro guides or tourists looking for good holes. however this app is just barely on paper. |

Just my 2 cents, but no app is gonna teach anyone how to fish. That comes from time on the water. I can see how tides/weather could be useful, but there are already apps out there for that. Again, just my opinion and like I said before, I don't even have a smart phone. _________________ "Ya'll must eat a lot of fish" |
