I bought a 22 foot bay boat about six months ago. Since then I have realized that my wife and 11 year old son are better at fishing than I am. The only difference is that they like eating fish and I don't. We don't catch limits every time we go out. Taking them on their first trip to Rocky Slough was awesome a few weeks ago was great. Caught some quality trout. Watching bring in those fish and enjoying the boat ride is worth every penny. Its the time spent together and memories that money can't buy that makes it all worth it. Can't wait till my 11 year old can pilot the boat and fillet the fish. But then I guess they wont need me, haha.

So in my book you are not weird.

I'd be interested to hear the Chef's point of view here, but lots of folks say that they don't like venison either, until they slip up and eat some that was well taken care of in the field and then cooked in a proper method for the cut and cooked to perfection, which as often as not with venison means RARE!!!!

Fish is the same way. I know people who say that they don't like fish (MY WIFE) but LOVES my fresh fried bass (yes BASS!!!!) and also love mesquite grilled amberjack or mahi mahi. Cool

Then there's something like ceviche: Holy moly, GREAT STUFF!!!!!!! Shocked

95% of all people who say they don't like fish, have never eaten good fresh caught fish, fried up by IMS himself. I have save many a folk from the gloom of having tasted a bad piece of fish in their lifetime. I to have had that bite of fish. nasty.

Agreed, IMHO. I do a killer fish fry myself Stan! Wink

In my lifetime I've ordered fried shrimp in 2-3 places in different parts of the country and actually bit into one that was on it's way to ROTTEN before it was breaded!!! Shocked Shocked Shocked I also once bit into a raw oyster that was bad, I had too many beers and forget my seafood eating protocol that I learned after the 2nd or 3rd bad shrimp: don't put it in your mouth before you smell it!!!! I was delirious that night, laying in a pool of sweat thinking that death was around the bend!!!!!!!!

Holy smokes................................ talk about making a guy leery of seafood!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Embarassed Embarassed Rolling Eyes
