Hey folks, me and a few friends of mine have a trip down PINS planned for weekend after next. Assuming the redtide continues, is it worth it trying to fish south of the 10 mile marker?
It sounds like people are still catching fish, but the tide is taking its toll. |

So looks like PINS is out....ouch, heading down beach in October is one of my favorite things to do.
Does Matagorda look any better? |

| Matty is clear right now, and my fishing buddies were yesterday and caught Trout, slot reds and slot black drums, and bunch of whitting. The beach was clear of dead fish. |

I was at the Matagorda jetties a week ago. They built a new jetty and it is very user friendly. Easy to walk on. You can even drive over it with 4-wheel drive. The colorado actually dumps into west bay. They changed where it went in 1998. You can camp for free at the mouth of the colorado by the new jetty and across the parking lot are bathrooms and showers. Good place to fish and camp. Going there on the 23rd for a trip instead of PINS. Good place for flounder too.
