Me and some buddies took the boat out yesterday around Ingleside. On our way back we noticed the jack plate was raised up all the way and we couldn't get it to lower. Also when I got home I was spraying the boat/motor down and raised the tilt all the way up. Now it won't go down either. You can hear the motor trying to tilt down and the jack plate trying to go down but they won't.
Any suggestion on what it might be? Or a good affordable mechanic? We didn't have any problems with it until we were at the dock. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. |

Could be hyd limit sw out of adjustment. You should be able to lower it back down turning hyd pressure relief screw on lower unit. Then check fluid level and try again.

| How old is this equipment. With the jackplate there are 2 solenoids that work up and the other works down, these are usually the problem |

Just FYI, even if it's a hydro problem. I recently replaced all the relays on my jack plate and tilt N' trim,,,working good now! (nock on wood)
There is a good jack plate tip article on pg 49 of the Texas Saltwater Magizine Sept addition, the one with the almost nearly famous leopard spotted Red on the cover page!

I agree when I've had trouble with mine, it's usually the relays. Most of the time bad connection, but a few times it was a bad relay. When this happens you just hear a click, if the motor is operating but not moving the plate check the hydraulic fluid. Mine is an ald (92) CMC jack plate and the screw is on the side of the reservoir just below the electric motor. BTW that is one wild looking red on the cover of the magazine. |

| If y'all haven't figured it out pm me. I am a certified o/b mechanic and about half the price of a dealer. I can come to you. I also keep plenty of parts including solenoids on hand. |

happend to me about a month ago. hydrolic fluid should do the trick.
