Jerry Patterson, Commissioner of the Texas General Land Office, has issued his response to the Park's Environmental Assessment on the speed limit at the Park, which can currently be found at -
http://www.breakawayusa.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/07/GLO0711.pdf
(I've been unable to get it posted on the CAC website, but will provide you with that link once it is established.)
Commissioner Patterson has recommended that the Park adopt Alternative 5(a), which was the Alternative advocated by CAC.
Even more important, he has reminded the Park that the State of Texas has an "automatic" right of reversion should any land conveyed from the State to the Park cease to be used as a public recreation area consistent with Senate Bill 6. Commissioner Patterson has placed the burden on the Park to self-monitor Park actions so that Park introduced vehicular restrictions and other actions do not become so burdensome that the Park becomes effectively closed and as a result automatically reverts to the State.
If, notwithstanding Blake Farenthold's Amendment No. 24 to H.R. 2584 and the GLO's warning, the Park implements any speed limit reduction (including a seasonal reduction) other than Alternative 5, CAC is investigating whether to establish a data collection form on CAC's website to be of future assistance to the GLO, if the information is needed. It is envisioned that Park visitors could fill in the form online with their contact information, a discussion of how the Park has interfered with their enjoyment rights at the Park and other information. Hopefully, the Park will adopt Alternative 5 and this action will not be necessary.
Please go to www.cacrights.org to contribute to CAC's continued actions in opposing the Park's actions in interfering with Park visitors' access and enjoyment rights at the Park. |

Very good. If a road was built behind the dunes, then how would you access the beach?? _________________ Fishing and Kayaking its a rough life but somebody has to do it. |

Patterson is an elected official just like Farenthold. Wouldn't hurt to give him a call too.

Electing officials with foresight like Patterson and Farenthold are paramount! Also, the forward looking officials who put the recessionary clause in the gifting of PINS to the Feds is bigger than anyone could have realized when the island was transferred. I'm going down PINS next week. Instead of our usual beyond the breakers flag we fly, I'm going to fly the COME AND TAKE IT flag. _________________ Vegetarian (n)...Old indian word for bad hunter |
