...i dont want to say the F.K. word *cough fishkill cough*....but several weeks ago i noticed mullet starting to take a hit and they were showing up on shore dead and i was seeing them floating on the water while paddling figured it was just baffin....lots of bait some are bound to die....

well today while fishing i saw lots of dead mullet....a couple dead trout...a couple dead drum....a couple dead croaker...and 2 dead reds keepers......

again figured nature ....but then while paddling i came across several trout just swimming in place not spooked i could poke them and they wouldn't care from dinks to a 20+ just sitting there along with a ton of horse mullet just swimming in place very alive but "zombified"... to the point of the slime on them was starting to come off and they looked very skinny and sickly...

anybody notice the same?

Call the Coastal Fisheries office at TAMUCC and report it.
They rely upon our eyes and ears.

Plus they don't have to pay us.

I agree w/ Chuck. Call the Kills and Spills team at Coastal Fisheries and let them know. Did you notice if the mullet were gulping air at the top of the water. That could be indicative of low DO

I was out this morning before the storm rolled in. Maybe a few more mullet dead than normal, but nothing too worrisome. If you were in the back bays it could have been a function of all the rain a few weeks ago. The trout get shallow and lethargic this time of the year. Sore-mouth according to the old timers Surprised
