Fished Thursday and Friday in surf north of Packery. All trout were caught on free lined croaker. We couldn't use arties effectively because of the vast amounts of weed that was coming in and also washing off the beach. Thursday we kept 9 trout from 18 to 23 inches and released many keepers under 18". Not too many dinks. Danny got almost spooled by we believe to be a large Jack. Luckily it broke at the leader not at the spool. Very difficult fishing. Waves were still pretty large. I got knocked down 3 times, lost my hat twice and wade belt got knocked loose twice. The trout were in any clear spots between the weed but they were very fat and thick.
Friday the water was clear in most spots but the weed was still a problem. We kept 18 trout from 18 to 23 inches. Again released many trout under 18". Left them biting at 1 pm.
My grandson, Mikey, caught his first keeper trout Thursday afternoon. It went 21 inches. Not too bad for a 4 year old.
Here is a pic of the trout I kept Friday:

Nice report! Is that little guy the one that used to watch you fillet your crappie? Seems like he was smaller with curly blonde hair!

I plan on hitting that area north of Packery this week Very Happy
