First time to post a report on this board, but a long time reader. The forum is a wealth of knowledge and I appreciate it being a newbie.

Nov 24 .. After buying some fresh dead shrimp and frozen mullet, I headed out to PINS with the family to find heavy SSE winds and rough seas. About 11am, we set out long rods with peeled shrimp/fishbites and one with cut mullet around the 9 mile mark. Also tried shrimp/fishbites in the first gut. Was able to catch a small whiting in the first gut early but then nothing. Landed a couple of hardheads on the long rods, but around 2pm, my oldest son picked up this 23” red …. His first from the surf and he was all smiles. Landed it in the 2nd gut.

My youngest tried to land some more, but no luck the rest of the day. He had something take his mullet for a ride, but no hook up. Driving was good and the weed was manageable.

Nov 25 … Headed out on Mustang Island prior to the turkey feast. Landed a couple of hardheads in the rough seas. Hard to keep the long rods out given the current.

Nov 27 … Set up a little north of Fish Pass Jetty around noon. The seas were calmer and we had a few birds working the 3rd bar. Tried to cast net mullet in the surf, but none to be had. Was able to land a couple of whiting for the day. I thought it might had been a good pompano day looking at the conditions, but water clarity was not great.

Until our next trip down … tightlines to all !

welcome to the board, and thanks for the report. Those days were wild with the wind. Murphys law, when you get time off to fish, the weather won't cooperate. Congrats to your son on his first surf red. I love the color on those surf reds, just beautiful.
