I go with 10lb Big Game. One unfortunate function of spinning reels is that all will twist your line and loops will often be a result of that. Make sure that the reel is not overfilled. This often cuts down drastically on looping. If you notice your line is starting to loop up more and more often, it's definately time for a line change. Hope that helps. _________________ "Ya'll must eat a lot of fish" |

| I agree with Bluffer...20lb power pro is what I use. I put a 4 foot 20lb. fluorocarbon leader on it using a uni to uni knot. I like the powerpro because of the no-stretch properties which allow you to feel every nibble. |

| One other thing to remember if you didn't already know, is when putting new line on your spinning reel is to take the new line straight off the spool with light tension by letting someone hold it with a pencil through the spool or hang it on something that allows it to turn freely. Laying the spool flat on the ground and loading your reel causes the loops to transfere from the spool to your reel. Just a thought. |

One good thing about the PP is it has no "memory" so dont matter which way you wind it on. Just dont use it on a baitcaster reel though. _________________ -STAY THIRSTY MY FRIENDS!- |

| If you're using mono by far Ande BackCountry is the best.Up here in RI fishing for stripers I use the 20lb on almost every setup.I'll use 12lb on my Spring schoolie and for Winter holdover schoolie setups. |

| Thanks for the info. I have not tried Power Pro yet. Will spool up over the holidays and give it a try. Happy Holidays to all out there. Be safe! |

Either power pro or fireline is great in my opinion. As one poster noted, mono has "memory" and that can lead to some atrocious birds nests. Also, the "superlines" end up costing you less. I have had some on a reel that I use a lot for over 2 years. With mono, I would have changed line many times by now. In addition, the thinner diameter will give you longer casts. My regular fishing partner held off on fireline until one day when I was catching fish about 5 to 1 over him because he couldn't quite reach the right spot with his mono. Once he changed, he has probably changed over another 20 people by his constant preaching.

| P-Line Premium is great stuff. It's really thin (one of the thinest mono's out), yet real strong. The 15# test is about 12lb dia compared to most other lines. I had some of this stuff on my spinning reel for about 3 years without changing it and I can't recall breaking it on a fish once (12#). I finally changed it about a month ago because I figured its about that time, lol. Also has low stretch and low memory. Working at Academy for a year now its the best mono I've come across. Although I may try the Suffix next. Power Pro is great if you want to go the braid route. |
