Surely someone in Corpus has fuel hose for an outboard at a reasonable price. I need about 20 feet. I was at Gulf Coast Marine this afternoon getting some OMC necessities and asked about fuel hose. He kind of apologized when he quoted me $5.99/foot. Obviously I passed on the fuel hose. I understand markup, but not robbery!

Go to any auto parts store and buy regular 3/8' fuel hose. Lots cheaper and will work fine!

Ed,,,,,Make sure where ever you get your hose it is ethanol approved.
Hose will be branded either USCG TypeA1-15 or SAE J1527 Ethanol approved.
Most dealerships have this hose but as you posted it's expensive.
Why don't you try Hose of South Texas on Monday, might be a little cheaper.

Kenny.....from what I understand there are already problems with hoses
that are not manufactured to work with ethonal. As you said older hoses.
The ethonal has also started creating problems in older outboards.
Where no additives were used. I think if I owned a older outboard I would change the hoses that are not branded and use the additives.
Remember ethonal is a solvent.
Bigger problem is 15% ethonal was approved by congress a few weeks ago. But only for limited usage in autos 2011 or newer. Slippery slope?
I hope not.

Thanks Mike. That is one of the places I was planning on calling tomorrow. Motor is 8 years old and when I changed out the fuel filter, there were little pieces of black in it, so I think the fuel hose is coming apart internally. Dadgum cheap gas they sell now. So I am fixing to change out fuel line, install fuel/water separator, and drain the tank.

My 225 Merc started bogging down when I would get over 1/2 throttle a couple months ago. I figured it was the fuel filter or water separator so I replaced them both. Nothing changed. Hooked up a portable tank with it's own line and it ran great so I pulled the old fuel line off and saw that there was some gunk in it. I took my air compressor and blew into one end with the other end open. I guess the fuel lines have some kind of liner in them because the whole liner came flying out. I think the ethanol ate at it and it finally separated from the hose and plugged. I blew it all out, replaced my line and it runs great.

I work for a auto supply co. and looked up fuel hose info. and AC Delco has a hose called Fuel Injector Hose and it's designed to handle ethanol fuel. The AC Delco part numbers are 32304 and 32305 5/16, 3/8 and should sell around $5.00 per ft.
