I was thinking about going also, but after seeing the report on TV about the 2 drownings, the water was chocolate. I will wait for another day.

Due to recent reports, including one from Rob at SPI, concerning cold water, I checked the water temp at Bob Hall pier and it read 78 degrees! Shocked Another cold water inversion. That usually limits fishing to shrimp eaters like hardheads, whiting etc. Your mileage and results may vary.

I initially thought that the funky camera and the weird angle made the water look worse on the webcam that it really did, but after a number of wasted trip to go spearfish when I thought the conditions were getting better, I have come to trust the webcam at BHP. If it looks like chocolate milk on the screen, grab you a straw and get you some Nestle Quick down at the beach.

Now the water temp drop. Shocked Pretty fast over a short amount of time. Happened back in July also. Similar degree drop over a similar time period.

Lets hope we don't get back-to-back red tide blooms as a result again this fall, like we had last year. Crying or Very sad

Try www.swellinfo.com they are pretty consistant and accurate. And it is free. Go to the side bar and you can click on the gulf to get to wave heights.

We made the drive down PINS Tuesday in hopes of finding some clear water and found it at the Mansfield Jetties. Water was muddy until late yesterday afternoon and was beginning to clear up almost fishable by 5pm however there were no desirable species only skipjacks. Green water was holding at the second bar and trying to move in.
The water temperature was surprisingly cool to almost cold in spots. Other then the water temperature and the off color water it was a gorgeous and extremely comfortable August day on PINS.

Thanks David,
The cold water does make for a pleasant day but usually the fishing is really bad. Billy Sandifer, Dr. Mckee and I went down the beach a few years ago in the early party of June and found 65 degree water just this side of the north jetty at Port Mansfield. I remember as we had an instant read thermometer. It was wild.
