Snoopy's, great; Laguna Reef, great; Doc's, great. Now for the best, that place on Lola Johnson - well, it doesn't get any better. They don't accept cash, but they do take Capt. Morgan, Private Stock. I recommend it enthusiastically.

Scuttlebutts has never disappointed me. Their fish selections are really good and fairly priced. I'm trying to talk them into a cook your catch. Finns in Port A does a cook your catch and does it well. Actually, of the many different selections I have made from their menu I have yet to be disappointed.
I have to agree Laguna Shores is NOT what it started out as.
Baja Coast is excellent but pricy.
Shame we live here on the Gulf Coast and have to rack our brains to find a good restaurant fish dinner.

You sir are wierd!

Why don't you go to work or do something else stupid when I want to go fishing. Maybe crash your bike or register for another class. You are like the most uncommited fisherman ever. Maybe that's why I always outfish you. It's all about time on the water. Maybe one day you can get some you homo....

The last time we went to Laguna Reef, we had to wait 2 hours for a table for 8. We were the only ones waiting... The manager and owner were very rude when we asked how much longer it would be....We were originally told 30 mins. I would never go back there after the way we were treated by the owner and manager

If you want some real, good south Texas seafood, go to Kings Inn.. if that is too far try Railroad Station Seafood Company!

There's a new place right in Kingsville in the old long john sliver's that's beating the pants off of Kings Inn, or maybe I just was never impressed with them or Baffin Bay Cafe

I don't know if it's because of the spill or what, but I went to Kings Inn about 4 weeks ago and had the best, biggest fried shrimp i have ever eaten. The problem was they were $22/pound. We ordered too much food, but two of us had 2 teas, 2 avocado salads and 2 pounds of shrimp and with tip it cost $80. $80 for lunch with no alcohol is a little high. The 2 pounds of shrimp was 19 pieces, so we're talking 10 counts, and they were as tender as cotton candy. The guy I was with can eat, I mean really eat, and we had 6 pieces too many. Surprised

Thanks for all the info. Statistically Laguna Reef was the place to try according to the data. I must have hit a bad night. Food was mediocre at best. Dried out snapper, cold rice, poor service. Beer was cold which helped out the rest. Prices were good if food had been better. Went to packery after dinner and saw many nice slot reds caught and a small snook. Of course wind kicked up all night and conditions were poor on Friday AM. Not a bite. Went to PINS for the afternoon, heavy surf but beautiful none the less. What a great place. I think when I come back I'll catch and cook and give up on trying to eat out.

Thanks

Been there too, It was good, but not on par with Kings Inn or Railroad Station which are way better than the rest of these places

Ha! Sounds like you ordered for 4 or 5 rather than 2! Smile Its not cheap, but no wonder it cost so much!

The Laguna reef has its days . Its a hit and miss there sometimes the food is awesome some times its not awesome. I fried some fish up yesterday and it was awesome. I cooked catfish and some cod it was really good. I will have to admit that the seafood selection here at the local HEB is really good and the folks that run it do a great job at keeping it looking good. I do get tired of trout and redfish all the time so a little change is good. I love the fresh wild sockeyed salmon thats some good eats ....grilled. I need a big o ling. Very Happy
