Took the Yak out to the backside of Mustang Island this morning. Conditions were good with light winds and decent water clarity. Got out after sunup and the bait which was plentiful was staying just out of reach of the net. Managed to catch a few anyway and headed out to the area I wanted to try.
Almost right off the bat I hooked up with a very nice sow trout and she was on long enough for me to get a nice look at her as she rolled on the surface and spit the hook. Looked to be in the 28" range. After that....not a thing for hours and three location changes before hooking up with one sorry looking 22" red. Tail was half gone and the dorsal fin had some nips out of it. I decided to put the poor thing out of its misery as it was still fat enough to grace my dinner table. I did get to watch a few dolphins scaring the bejejus out of whatever they were feeding on.
All in all not a bad day and it sure beats not fishing at all. _________________ WORK TO LIVE, LIVE TO FISH |

| I'll let you know how I do when I come back on Tuesday. Might see me in the back by the dock depending on how I feel in the morning. Thanks for the report, sorry about the trout. |
