Yeah I never had a sprint phone that didn't get great signal all over corpus, SA, Austin, Victoria, Houston, etc. I get service south of corpus, but usually roaming service. Everything north is non roaming. But I have never had a connect issue. Even my buddies that had nextel before the merger would complain about no service when we were out fishing or offroading so I would have to let them use my phone. _________________ http://lagunafishing.com - GPS Map/Satellite Imagery of fishing spots in the Laguna Madre

I have had pretty good luck with my Nextel. Did not think it would work but at the high 20's, heard the beep of a signal, stopped the truck and actually made a radio call to San Antonio. Pretty cool. Been able to communicate off and on with it depending on the conditions. _________________ "Careful man, there's a beverage here!" -- The Dude |

| I have had service from all the different phone companies. I have had the best luck with sprint. I spend a lot of time in the Bluff and have no problems at all. I can usually depend on service everywhere except the landcut. Sometimes I get a signal, simetimes I don't. I work all over the country and find a few dead spots, but those dead spots are dead to all phones. The phone definately makes a difference. The best is a bag phone if you can get your hands on one. I guess the phone companies don't want you to have one becaus they are so much stronger than a hand held. We have used them in the cut, on the beach and up in the hill country and had service. |

Sprint
30+mm and I am the only one with service. All my friends have no signal after the 4wd marker.
I use my Sanyon 4900 to connect on the internet from my laptop when I am hunting. Zapata is the closest anything maybe 30m. I get both didtal and analog.
The phone has a lot to do with get a Sanyo. Can't go wrong.

Sanyo phones seem to do well on the Sprint network. Sprint seems to work better in fringe areas than Nextel, Cingular, Verizon. Had friends use my phone on several occasions whether sitting in a blind 10 miles from Freer or fishing from the landcut to cedar bayou. Spend the $5 for unlimited roaming with sprint.
Freer - analog roam(some blinds) digital (tall blinds)
Landcut - Digital
55 mi mark - digital
10-50 mark - sometimes digital, analog for sure
0 - 10 mark - usually digital
St joe island to Cedar bayou - digital |
