The entrance to Lake Padre off Hwy 361 (south of Packery Bridge) has been gated, fenced and all locked up.....so for those of you (like me) that like to fish in the back canals from time to time can't drive in anymore. Also there are no tresspass signs put in place.
I was told it was closed off because of the person living there, the trash being left behind and the campfires.....oh well someone screwed something else up for others...
It isn't going to stop me from fishing there but now either I will need to walk further or take the boat....what a pain in the azz..

Saw them out there putting up the gate on Monday, figured they were going to start construction on something.
People have been trashing the area for quite some time.
guess the owner got tired of it. |

that's funny
Also, guess the state record ribbonfish holder stands a better chance of holding on with less hooks in lake padre, that place has some freaking monster ribbons |

Ribbons were thick last weekend even back into the canals of padre isles. Babies though. I heard snaps will crush them, babies or not. _________________ Jeff

I dont understand anyone throwing trash on the bank while fishing, but I do know this :
While in my 20's - 30'sI used to take a six pack with me when bank fishing, I think half of the point of going fishing was to drink the six pack ! After a few beers, most people will loose site of the fact that they are littering. I rarely see people fishing who are NOT drinking throw trash on the ground. Now in my 40's, I wait to get home to drink any alchoholic beverages, as I find that it messes up my fish catching ability.
I regularly launch my kayak at Wilsons cut. I cannot believe that we are so lucky to have such a wonderful place to put in there ! Everytime I go which is once or twice a week, I pick up cans, bottles, line, batteries, boat parts plastic bags. I spend no more than ten minutes doing this, It feels great! My concern is that the owners will also ban public access due to people fishing and throwing trash.
Every single week, there is a new pile..... It makes me cry.
I hate to blame trash throwing on people consuming beer, but the shoe fits, and it fits well.
I will never be suprised when a property owner closes an area due to trash throwing, or neglet. Its a shame to to have to motor or row your way back to the spot you cannot drive to, but honestly its probably for the better.
I challenge anyone to start taking trash with them as they go, and see what a wonderful feeling it leaves you with !

I agree whole heartedly with you Sherkus.. I think everyone one here believes in picking up after themselves and a little extra at times as well. Its the lazy dead beats, that will spoil a good thing everytime, we need to reach...

We had the headlights on the car on shining down in the water.... Must have pissed off the wrong person.
But we didn't leave any trash.
