Tried out a manta ray 14 yak today from JerryB's, put in at Dimmit pier. Great boat. Fished deep water north of the causeway from 10am until about 1-2, soft plastics and suspending twitchbaits. Got nada, but did see more than one boat landing upper slot reds using bait, looked liked dead shrimp. As it warmed up, and the wind died down, the water was glass so we moved to the some skinny water, where I got a few sand trout, and this red which went about 25". Lots of nervous skattered bait all over the general area, water was lively, but couldnt get fish to take arties. looks like things are about to get moving again, barring anymore cold weather.

Nothing wrong with your thinking STX. ULM is north of the Land Cut, LLM is south. And the area north of the JFK causeway is the Laguna Madre, up to the edge of CC Bay.

thanks texmaps. Although it doesn't make sense in writing its good to know the correct terminology on locations.

Nice report ltorna. Hats off to anyone who demos a yak and boxes fish.

I'm not sure why peeps are getting all technical on ULM vs. LM vs. LLm.

So, is the short stretch from the causeway to the CC Bay supposed to be called the LM but not the ULM? Maybe it should be called the upper upper laguna madre? How about the penultimate LM?

So my location was north of upper laguna madre, south of CC Bay, north of the causeway, west of mustang island, just south of boat hole, east of flour bluff, below the water's surface and above the the mud.
