Funny, Academy is where I got mine. Go to Bass Pro online search for "Float Tube".

Looks like a float tube to me. You can use them with swim fins to get around in deeper water. See them on-line at Cabelas or Bass Pro. Price starts around $100.

The float tubes look great, but are really not that easy to manage in the bays. My brother and I experimented w/ them years ago before kayaks were the rage and neither of us were really impressed w/ them. If you simply want a place to sit when fishing then it may be great for that, but as far as covering water...............Not so good. Any amount of wind and you're turned into a huge sail w/ only your kicking feet to fight the wind. We ended up walking the float tubes back to shore many times when it was simply impossible to travel into the wind with the tube. Good luck if you do decide to purchase one. I think the ones we tried were from Cabelas.

topdog15- I appreciate the feedback regarding the float tube. I think I will just start off with a simple life jacket for now. I do a lot of different fishing so I suppose I could just save the money for more tackle or save up for a Kayak Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy

Now your making sense. Question everything, but listen to the voices (of experience). If float tubes worked well, you would see them all over the bay.

This doesn't mean that I don't like them. I used them for years. Great for small water and intelligent application in larger water. Not good in wind or current.

Don't have one now because my kayaks are better for the water I normally fish. I even use a kayak in small community ponds when I go back to my roots and go "perch pullin". Of course I'm usually using a fly rod out of a kayak so it looks different - but it's still fun.

P.S. "Perch Pullin" = "fishin fer brim" (bluegill & other sunfish).
