Three in dune damage may be prosecuted
Three men could face federal prosecution for allegedly destroying vegetation over a mile-wide area and causing extensive damage to dunes on the Padre Island National Seashore, by driving on the dunes.
National Park Service rangers stopped the men, who were camping on park grounds, shortly before midnight on Dec. 18. Offroad driving on the national seashore is against federal law.
Park officials said the men, whose identities were not released, could also be held for civil damages.

Glad they caught them. I hope they are prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law to set an example for those who would do the same.
People doing stupid things like that just adds fuel to the fire for those who would take away our rights to fish and drive on the area beaches. It bothers me that people who do these sorts of things have no repect how their actions affect fragile environments and other peoples rights.
I hope they give them jail time in the federal penatentary (sp?)! Then maybe they might appreciate the freedoms and rights we have.
Captn Mike Singleterry made a good arguement that if we keep letting them take away our rights and freedoms little by little, it adds up to a whole lot down the line. Those who would take away those rights - Sierra Club, CCA, etc., use things like this as ammo against us, even though the actions are not representative of us. If we don't watch out we could end up not being able to drive on the beaches, fish certain areas, and even end up with "seasons" for catching redfish and trout (like we have for snapper). Areas will become restricted. Those who read this board need to pay attention and attend meetings concerning these events. I for one will begin doing so now that I am back here in Corpus. _________________ Give a man a fish, feed him for a day.

Way to go Park Rangers!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The pictures of the dunes were hard to look at.
I wonder if we can help on the sentencing? I know, innocent until proven Guilty. but it would be nice. _________________ SALTYDOG AKA Cliff McKay
