Fished Cove Harbor caught a trout and put him in a show bank. First speck I ever did that with. That was Christmas afternoon.

My Brother-in-Law and I went down monday the 27th, caught 6 slot reds
and 2 over sized, one 29 and one 30. The fish bite was on all day. We also caught 4 really nice drum. We used cut whiteing, fresh dead shrimp
and green fish bites. We were fishing at the 21. Towards the end of the day a family from Kansas came walking by looking for shells they stopped and looked at the fish we had and told us this was the first time they had ever been to the beach and that the had bought fishing liscenes but hadn't had time to fish yet . There was a little boy with them he was probably about eight ,anyway while they were talking with us my pole bent over and we were hooked up with another big red. I asked the little boy if he would like to catch the fish. His eyes lite up so I handed him the pole and the fight was on. He fought the fish for about ten min. he got it all the way in and at the last sec it got off. I think I was more disappointed that the fish got off than he was. Anyway we had a great fishing trip hope to make it back next weekend. |

| I have fished twice in the past two days in the upper Laguna around the boat hole, the edge of the ditch, deadmans, peta etc. without much to show. the flats seem pretty dead, and the water is still cold. managed to catch a few dink trout along the edge of the ditch and a few keepers in the padre island canals but nothing else..... |

Fishing was very slow going on Wed.(12-29-04)Started out at sun up at Humble channel (Red Dot pier). The water was just too still and with no current.Caught only X-LG Piggies. Then I headed over just south of Bob Hall.2- 14 & 15inch Drum and that was it for my 3 1/2 hours on the baech.By that time the sun felt HOT I had to put on sun screen!
Finished off my day at the Fish Pass Jetties. The surf was very rough, waves were breaking out at the 4th or 5th sand bar.And with very little wind.Only 1 small Sheephead were takers.
All in all it was a slow day where I fished but It was great to get out and enjoy the day with my son!! _________________ Live to fish.Fish to live! |

Have yall been fishing the slack tide in the AM or the rising tide in the late afternoon??????
I would think the flats would be GREAT late afternoon and evening with the rising tides, sunshine, and warming temps.....
