I got me new kayak yesterday. After some study, I got a OK frenzy. I rigged it up and took it our for the maiden voyage today. I have a large softside ice chest on the back and a small tackle box on the front. I also purchased the seat and rigged up a piece of PVC into the webbing for a rod holder.
I walked it out to about 2' and jumped in. Smooth ride, a little wet, but I like things a little wet. After I got in about 10 feet of water I decided to start fishing. Threw back into the shallows with a large worm, no hook. Instantly I had a large blackie on. Typical fight, fought hard for about 20 seconds and then spit it out. Labs lose interest quickly. Reeled in and repeated this feat 10 times.
Just then my wife is hollering at me to get out of the pool and leave the dogs alone. I'm thinkin, hey its father day, but......I paddle back to the steps and gently get out of my new kayak. I have to be careful because my black lab really wants that worm.
Can't wait to get to the beach.

I know what you mean about those labs. They sure put up a good fight until they realize that once they let go you will throw back to them again.  Congrats on the yak, I cant wait to get one for myself. |
