Going from Portland to Corpus Christi, I noticed a boat launch just out of Portland. I have seen some trucks and trailers there.

A person told me you have to be careful there and watch the tides before launching.

Launching is not a problem for me, but I am wondering about the water (depth, reefs, etc.) once you get out of the launch area. I would like to fish the shoreline along Portland over there, but I have not tried due to ignorance and the possibility of boat and motor repair.

Is it even a possiblity to reach that shoreline?
