It can happen.
Can you picture it Tyler and message board users? An annual event. Would it help to benefit some worthwhile cause?
Man, there's already bunch of sponsors for this web page. I would imagine that they and others would sponsor some tourney that'll get them more exposure for their products and services.
How about categories like:
- Surf Fishing (3 fish categories; cash prize + embroidered shirt)
- Bay Fishing (3 fish categories... of course REDFISH included; prizes - ditto)
- Kid's category (10 and under; 3 trophies)
- Hardhead category (1 - trophy)
Largest fish wins. Weight is the tie-breaker.

Sounds good to me!
Tyler's got name recognition with this site now, and I bet a tourney like that would attract alot of attention. Maybe it should be two - one bay fishing and one for the surf, to help with live weigh-ins to help with catch and release protocol.
I bet plenty of people would join. I would fish and volunteer my time to help!

Between getting bumper stickers done and putting on tourney's I might be in for a busy summer. We wll see on the tournaments. From what I have seen in fishing them, the folks behind the scenes do a lot of work ala the Baffin Bash etc. Maybe I can talk to Ron Behnke and see if we can do one in the summer with my site and the Saltwater Angler for charity.
I have also thought about doing a kayak fishing tourney with the dealers around the area putting on kayak demos over at Packery etc whilst the tourney is on. We could have teams by brand of kayak etc or whatever. |
