I have an American Angler electric knife. I have had it for several years (6 or 7). She has cleaned hundreds of fish. I have only had to replace the blades. I primarily use it for flounder and trout. Those drum and sheephead are a bit much so I do it the old fashioned way.
Anyway, does anyone know if this brand is still sold?
1. If yes, where do I purchase one?
2. If no, what is a good, quality brand?
Thanks for your help.[/i] |

For Christmas I recieved an AnglersBest Cordless Electric fillet knife (Model #415010A). It came with an AC/DC adapter, 7.2 volt NiMH memory-free battery and two 8" serrated blades. Also included with this gift was a 12 volt charger for plugging into my trucks cigarette lighter. Both chargers and the knife carry a one year warranty, which makes the products much more desirable to have, at least in my opinion.
I generally prefer to use a sharp fillet knife, sawing and slicing by hand. Perhaps I'm old-fashioned and like to have a tired hand after filleting several fish? No, not a doubt in my mind. I saw quite a few in use down on the ICW/Sargent Beach these past six months and the ease in which these knifes cut. It looked so easy and effortless! I can't wait to put it to good use soon!
Thankfully I am not "addicted" to the acquistion of too much fishing equipment. It is not necessary to have an electric knife, fancy hook removers (my hands work fine, especially if I rip the gills out to get easier access to a gut-hooked keeper fish! ), nor do I need THE fishing rod that perfectly compliments my clothing. (Ok, sorry if I offended any women here! LOL)....I think 10 rods for one person is enough. (uh oh...but I still do not have that shark rig, or the Okuma reels for saltwater! I do not have a pier landing net either. Nor the big square crab traps (only ring nets). Oops, gotta go...time to visit Academy!) _________________ "I just got a new fly-fishing rod and reel for my wife. It was the best trade I've ever made!" |
