This past Saturday I attended the seminar at Nick's Breakaway. Really done-up right and all of us there learned something (especially me). Nick went into detail about reading the surf and spot casting and different baits and working fish and just a whole bunch of other really good stuff. Learned a world of good things from "Spooner" and his techniques and baits. And another guy (forgot his name) who knows more about cleaning and tuning reels than I'd ever heard about.
Towards the end of the day, when the door prizes were being given out, Nick told everyone to sit tight while he took care of something else.
He wanted Poppadunn to join him at the front of the room. So I stumbled up there fat dumb and happy without a clue ! Nick pulled out a 12-6 Breakaway Rod and handed it to me. Then he told the crowd " Poppadunn's son called from Kansas and had me custom build this rod for his Dads Fathers Day a little early". Damned near lost it right there in front of ever'body. My son and my wife set all this up with Nick and I never had a clue. Like I told Nick, "after nearly 45 years in law enforcement its really hard to surprise THIS old man"..but they did it ...and did it GOOD.
Dont mean to brag or pop-off but just wanted to share a REALLY GOOD DAY with ya'll.

That's awesome...great gift!
If my father was into surf fishing half as bad as me...I would gladly do the same.
Good deal!
