If you have used E-bay to get fishing/outdoor gear, are you nearly completely satisfied?
Anyone get ripped off on E-bay; i.e., send money to seller and get nothing or something that's totally junk?
I don't know much about E-bay, but it looks like lot of cool stuff on there including new fishing gear. _________________ Live To Fish Tomorrow... Fish To Live Today

I bought my Mitchell Nautil Spinning reel via one of EBAY's power sellers with no problems at all. We just bid on those things offered from people with good ratings. My wife has purchased at least 30 things with only one that was mildly bad. The lady sold her a Starbucks Christmas mug and took at least 6 weeks to ship it. It was a lot smaller than we expected but you could say it was "as" advertised.
Happy Bidding!

hey, RC..Ebay fine...my wife has used them for years for various items..just check the feedback on the seller...I've bought Canon G5 last yr..brand new in box as well as a Palm product for wife for work..same..in box new....perfect.....very cool...just know what you want to pay and that's it.. I've had best luck not jumping in to bid until last minute or so and just re-setting your bid in $5 increments last min...just keep upping it and you'll get it....b\c the average Joe will up you by $5 and think he's won...too late ....you've already upped. !! have fun..
Don't catch 'em all... will be down in June

| I've had great success using e-bay. Just bought a new Pelican light last week. Key is knowing what you want and what the maximum price you will pay. It took me bidding on four different Motorola WalkAbout radios over a three week period to get the ones I wanted at my price. e-bay is a great resource. |

I've bought and sold many times on ebay. Just look over the pictures carefully and always check the fine print. Some people will really list high shipping fees for small items always check those. And you should always research the items on the internet to make sure it is a good quality product and made for what you want to use it for.

| I posted last summer on another web site about all my equipment being stolen. Recovered the archery equipment but had to replace the 10 rod and reels that were stolen. All but one were replaced on e-bay. No complaints. I just checked the seller's feedback page before bidding. |

Ebay is a good tool. I have bought a used penn 535 for $64. Assume buyer pays shipping unless other wise posted. Sometimes you can find sellers that are using Ebay as a store front for their internet store. If you call them and not go through Ebay, sometimes they cut you a better deal. They don't have to pay the Ebay commission fees. I found this guy who had a direct connection to a chinese rod builder. I got a super lite 12'8'' carbon rod from him for $35 and he had a 15' one built for me for $50. Grant it they are not the quality you would get out of a local custom rod builder, but I slung the 15' rod 380' on a spinning reel w/20lb. line. Theres bargains to be had if you do your homework. |

I've only purchased one item on ebay and it was a "buy it now'" not a bid. It was a Shimano TLD 30 2-speed. All went well and I saved about $100 over local retail.
The seller was a very friendly and amiable Asian lady in Singapore. And yes, I checked her background. |

One tip, a lot of sellers will mis-spell the brand names. Unintentional, of course, but it helps you find products that others may never see.
Shamano may be a good example, I don't know, I've never tried it for fishing gear.
I've bought and sold well over a hundred items on ebay, and I've only been burned on a deal once. My wife uses it all the time too.
Also, check out esnipe.com for a great way to get your bid in at the last possible moment without sitting in front of a computer constantly hitting "reload". _________________ Chad Landry

Rule of the thumb is to read the add very carefully.
1. Read the add carefully to make sure the product is what you are looking for. Someone can label an inferior made product as "Shamano" and you would get stuck with the product, eventhough, your thinking was Shimano. Communication via email is the key.
2. Check the seller ratings. I took a gamble on purchasing a used tires one time from a Houston seller, and he sent me a sour tires that were not as described. Sent back the tires, and lost some $$$ on the shipment.
3. As new is not NEW.
4. Always ask for shipment cost before bid, and any handling fee. A lot sellers make bulk of their revenue from shipment and delivery.
5. A lot fake products out there, especially in pricey items such as Taylor made drivers, Calloway irons, and I don't know if it's an Rolex.
As for fishing equipment, I have been very satisfied with my purchases from ebay. |

| I bought a Penn 6/0 and a "Reel Big Fish Maui" 80 lb class stand up rod from a guy in Hawaii a couple of months ago, Reel was in great shape and the rod looked like it was right off of the shelf. I have bought most of the stuff I need to make leaders also in the past few weeks and haven't had a single problem. |
