| Just wondering if anyone has had any experience with the lightweight Chronarch Mg (magnesium) in the saltwater. |

Magnesium & saltwater don't mix, you'd ruin an expensive reel using it in saltwater.

| Shimano claims it's NaCl H2O safe. I'd look into the warranty on it, and I'd also practice diligent maintenance if I decided to buy it, even though it's supposed to be Saltwater friendly. |

I have buddies moving toward this model.
A retieree down in Seadrift swears that it was the magic he needed to go longer, like Viagra! Said that it was more than sweet/smooth landing fish.
I'm hot on the trail. Have been using the 100 but the 2oz difference was unbelievable.
Shimano site states to use caution and prevent from scratching the protective coating. I am thinking that she'll need a bath more often. _________________ dampole |

A friend of mine owns four of them and he only fishes saltwater, quite often and the are the best casting reels I have ever used, with no corrosion problems. I have the curado and chronarch superfree, and I will definitely go the the mg, can't beat it. _________________ casting is not near as fun as catching, catching is not near as fun as releasing. |

With Shimano's warranty I don't think you can go wrong. Plus they will clean there reels and replace parts for $20.00 charge if you send them in to there service center and it only takes about 3 weeks. |

I guess that a diaper is in order for the hi$ toy tool and as for mangus, he needs the reduced weight when it rains to catch crawdads in his front yard.
What's the count down for you mangus? Are you going to get it a diaper to prevent scratches?
Is there noone else out there fishing with the MG to speak out about it? _________________ dampole |

| Ya don't need to worry about them surface scratches as much as the spool area. And if you are getting alot of surface scratches try trim'in those nails. |

Well, Mangus tried to extract one of those new MG 50's from the Shimano rep at the fishing show but they had sold out!
He managed to find one availble somewhere and purchased it.
Took him out 3-12-05 and managed to land a coupole of trout with it.
I tried to resist his urges that handle the unit he had mounted on an American Rodsmiths rod.
I must urge anyone who comes across this writting not to purchase the MG 50 or 100. There are already too many folks out there in the bay systems and if they were all armed with this unique piece of equipment then I would never find a spot to fish. Please keep buying and fishing with the heavy equipment and go in early.
I should have bought some Shimano stock!
PS. The magnesium is in the frame. The spool (alum) and side covers (composite) of the 50 are not to worry about.
Now Mangus wants me to mount a gunsafe in the truck bed for protection of his investment.
Bet he still gets it a diaper

love mine,i bought it when they first came out,i used it maybe 8,10 hours a week in salt water,no problems yet, just simple maintaince.never used a sweeter reel.love my curado 200's to,but as far as smooth,ya cant beat the MG.i use it on a 6'6" crucial.like most anything else, just take care of it.if he is lookin for a durable baitcaster,go with the curado 200 series, nice reel to. it all depends on taste and budget.i freaked when i saw a guy buy 2 VAN STALL spinners the other day for a little over $1000.,LOL

| I talked the Shimano rep. for Corpus and he said it has been one of the most trouble free reels they have made. He said they are taking the sticker off of the boxes that say do not use in saltwater. |

See if you can get the Shimano rep to email me as I have an interesting advertising proposal for him
