I will be going Chokoloskee Island at least twice a year and probably more. I have access to a place that will accomodate 10 anglers. What I'm getting at is I would like to get a group of guys together that would like to do this once or twice a year. This is not a business solicitation. There is no charge other than paying your own way. I always have more fun when there is a bigger group going and it is hard to find people that want to fish the Everglades because of the drive. The fishing is fantastic. Snook, tarpon, redfish, specs. The list is endless. If anyone is interested, respond to this post and maybe we can start planning something.

When are you going, I would like to go on one (or many, lol) of those trips!!!

I keep telling my wife that if we ever go to Hawaii or South Florida, I might not ever come back to Texas! Laughing She didn't understand until she watched a couple tv shows were they fished places like Crystal river and the keys, and were catching redfish, specks, tarpon, snook, and other fish in the same place on the same lures! I wish that I can go. Got to take care of the kids (single dad).

Hey, if you're taking a road trip... stop by in Destin/Ft. Walton/Pensacola.... one of the best beaches in the country... WHITE powdery sands and emerald green waters: CLEAR and CLEAN. Have fun at McGuire's Pub and Flounders in Pensacola too. The food is great at McGuire's and the Music is terrific at Flounders!

The Everglades is OUTSTANDING: another world. Travel through Alligator Alley. Watch out for the PANTHERS! Catch an eye full of all the alligators along the side of the roads in the swampy waters. Hey, stop at the smallest Post Office in the country while in the Everglades and send us a post card. Take an air boat trip while you're at it. Why just stop there, keep on going for that matter and catch US 1 all the way down to Florida Keys. Stop at Key Largo and go snorkeling at the Fed. Marine Park. Go lobstering too when in season. Go over the longest bridge (The Seven Mile Bridge) in the mid-lower Keys. The most beautiful waters and unique island atmosphere around... the Florida Keys. You can't beat Sloppy Joe's on Duval St. in Key West. Live music every day and night. Wide open atomosphere to Duval St. Visit little Havana too. Catch a charter boat and do some real off-shore fishing.

Can you tell that I've been through that part of the country many times, LOL.

Have fun there fishing! Oh, remember to protect the Everglades! It's a protected sanctuary! NOTE: Take plenty of mosquito repellents. Wink

You mean there is actually one smaller than the Post office in Telegraph, TX. It has two, count them two PO Boxes, and serves the town population of 6.

I would be very interested in going. All I would need is advance notice. I would not be able to go late May or early June though. I grew up in South TX and now live a 12 hour drive away from Corpus...I don't mind driving to fish.

It's 1400 miles. The rooms are $85 a night. I only burned about 40 gallons of fuel in three days of fishing. The licenses (You have to have both a fresh and a saltwater license in Everglades National Park) are $35 each plus snook stamp ($2). I would think that if you went for five days fishing, It would probably cost somewhere between $500 & $800 per person. That's all the fuel for vehicle & boat, food, hotel & license. I'm probably a little conservative. I would take a grand in to be on the safe side. I'm figuring on 10 guys, five trucks & boats, five rooms & eating at a restaurant everday. One of the rooms has a full kitchen. There is grocery store in Everglades City (4 or 5 miles). The last time we were there, we fried a bunch of specs we caught that day. It was great. I'm game either way.
