Can't wait for it to be finished. It will be across I-10 from Fiesta Texas at Loop 1604.

| I am looking forward to that. BassPro saltwater section sucks as far as reels and poles go in regards to surf fishing. it seems to get worse every time I go there. Hopefully Cabella's will realize that is a big part of fishing on the Texas coast. |

| So. . . what's the word on a Bass Pro Shop in Corpus? With one as close as San Antonio, are we out of luck? Sure hope not as it would be super in place of the old Coloseum downtown. Understand Cabellas is building in Austin. Anyone know where. |

I have to wonder if the people at http://www.payyourownwaybasspro.com didn't scare them away with their billboards whining about corporate subsidies.
Sorry, it's not worth giving you a tax break for a few years in order to provide new jobs and bring in a whole bunch more sales tax revenue to our city. We ain't gonna make it easier for you to open shop here. _________________ Chad Landry

I saw that one a few weeks ago Lefty Ray. I exited there for a quick burger and had to look at the new construction for about 20 minutes while trying to get back on the freeway.
I saw a lot of places between Austin and San Antonio where I plan to do some Christmas shopping this year. Nice stores all around that area. _________________ Chad Landry

A bass pro or cabellas would look really nice where memorial coliseum is falling apart at. _________________ Give a man a fish, feed him for a day.

It really wouldn't be a good idea to put a Cabelas or a Bass Pro in CC. You have to consider that even though it would provide a lot of jobs it would put many of the independent area tackle retailers and boat dealers out of business.
Austin and SA have a much larger population and a more diverse market which is capable of supporting such a major retailer while taking minimal losses on the small business community.
Why am I still a "finger mullet" Tyler? |

Torpedo,
It goes by posts.
I think the first three levels are:
0-99 = finger mullet
100-199 = pony mullet
200-299 = horse mullet
I can't remember the rest... but there were alot of suggestions that were pretty funny! ie: Redneck mullet, metro mullet, Flour Bluff mullet, etc. _________________ Give a man a fish, feed him for a day.

| guys, I'd hate for any type of wal-mart store to go up where the memorial coliseum is. Remember its called the "Memorial" coliseum, if its gone, I don't want to see anything there. This is not to say I don't want Corpus to get a Probass or Cabelas, just not there. I'd say it would be much better and assecable off of SPID. |

.
I visit the Bass Pro Shops store at Katy-Mills about 4 - 5 times per year and no busier than it usually is there I have to think that CC would have trouble supporting one. An aquaintance of mine works at the BPS home office in Springfield, Mo. and tells me the Katy-Mills store is their weakest location.
It very well could be that they are weak in the surf fishing equipment sector, I don't know....I usually go there for offshore tackle, etc. and while they do have a good selection for that I like Cut-Rate Tackle better.
I'm looking forward to visiting the Cabela's super store. The new Gander Mountain super store in Houston was a disappointment to me. Sort of like an over-sized Academy.
Nevertheless, if you do go to BPS and haven't already joined the BPS Awards thing you should. On my last visit there I got about a $10 - 12 discount on my tab. |
