I am currently stationed in Irag with the 1st Cavalry Division out of Ft Hood. During my deployment I have become a resident of Padre Island (wife got a job in Corpus) and while I was home on leave spent everyday trying to find a good fishing hole. I will be back there in March/April and would like to hear from some of yall about some of the hotspots around there. My boys 9 and 11 love to fish and I hear stories about them catching reds and trout from the beach.
I understand that some of the hotspots may be secret but any info will help.
Also, I promised my boys that I would take em on a deep sea trip when I got back. Any suggestions on which one to go on. I almost booked one when I was on leave but couldnt take my son out of school. (Sucks for me!)
I look forward to hearing from any and all of ya'll. Thanks in advnce for your info.

We start hitting the beach pretty hard in March. Fishing can be good and builds in momentum through the spring. High winds and sargassum can make it tough but ya never know. We fish with a great bunch of guys from this site and others, and would be happy to help you and the boys out any way we could. Drop a line when you're headin' home and we'll set something up. Meanwhile thanks for your service and be safe over there. _________________ No bait is TOO BIG! |

MWR at NAS in Ingleside would be the route to go offshore. Last year they just bought a new 38' Fountain with 3 200hp. motors. There rates
usually beat everybodys. I'll dig out there phone # if your interested. I posted it before in a prior post about offshore fishing. Let them know
your just getting back from Iraq . You will catch fish with these guys. Try to
wait until snapper season opens up. We support our troops and pray for your safe return. |

| Along with the surf as a hot spot there are a few other places that will be with a few minutes from your home that will be on fire. The road that leads to Port A is awesome. You will have the Packery channel opening soon, Kates Hole, Dead Mans Hole, Fish Pass Jetties and you can walk in on the back side of Shamrock Cove. If you will post and address I could send you a Hot Spots map of the area. Along with all the others, I wish you and all the soldiers a safe return home and a heartfelt thanks for all that you all are doing. |

Chris, I ain't much help, I'm kind of new to Corpus Christi, and I'm still learning the area and learning to fish. But I did buy you a ticket for the BillyStix Raffle.
I think it would be awesome to pull a ticket from the hat and announce the winner's name followed by "US Army, 1st Cavalry, Iraq". It would be even better if you're home by April 16th and able to collect your prize in person. _________________ Chad Landry

SSG CARPENTER,
Let us know when you are in town and maybe we can arrange an offshore trip with some members of this group.
Thanks for your service. I know my family appreciates the sacrifice you have made with your family to keep us all safe.

Hey Chris let us know when you get back! I live on the island and would be more than happy to loan you guys some fishing gear for the surf or the bay. Lots of luck with two young boys on a deep sea trip, they may have a blast or they may be miserable for a whole day!! I suggest may be a half day bay trip to see how they do.
Thanks for serving our country and please contact us if you need any other help. |

I might be up for that if I can get it in my schedule. Let us know when you're coming home, and be safe until then!
Please tell all the soldiers there that we all appreciate their efforts to help us enjoy our freedom and their protection of our safety! Glod Bless all the soldiers there and everywhere else around the world! |

| MAYBE IF BOB HALL PIER IS OPEN BY THE TIME YOU GET BACK HOME WE CAN SET UP A FISHING TRIP. I ALSO HAVE TWO BOYS WHO LOVE TO FISH, THEY ARE 15 AND 11. IF WE CAN GET IN CONTACT WITH EACH OTHER, I HAVE ENOUGH PIER FISHING EQUIPMENT FOR ALL OF US AND THE PIER IS AN EXCELLENT PLACE FOR YOUNG FISHERMAN TO LEARN. THEY WILL ALSO HAVE A CHANCE TO CATCH A VARIETY OF FISH. GOOD LUCK TO YOU AND THANKS FOR EVERYTHING YOU MEN AND WOMEN IN THE ARMED SERVICES DO FOR OUR COUNTRY. |
