Was in Corpus for Pico's birthday party at Chuck-E-Cheese Saturday & we stayed Saturday night in Portland. He and I went out to IPP early Sunday morning. Nasty weather and no fishing gear with us so we just walked out on the pier. First time I'd walked out there. I saw signs at the park entrance & at the pier entrance saying "No alcoholic beverages allowed." There wasn't anybody on the pier but us and the pier was clean, no trash scattered around, except for one beer can. That got me curious so I looked in the trash can out on the T-head, and it was full to the top with beer containers & cans. Do they ever enforce the no alcohol rule?

I'm sure it's a law at all public parks (hence the sign), but as long as there's no trouble, they don't seem to mind.

I think the "no glass containers" rule is more important.

It is the same way at the state parks. Park Ranger at a state park told me one night that they don't enforce the alcohol thing unless there are problems. We were drinking cold beers after white bass fishing at Colorado Bend and the ranger stopped by to visit. He was super nice. We all started hiding cans and stuff. He started laughing. He said if you are quiet and not bothering other folks, they don't care. He said if we were to get loud or mess with other folks, then he had a easy way to take action and ticket us.

Some thing at Goose island state park. The Rangers there told me just to keep your can in a koozie & dont flaunt it. But if you get loud or rowdy Twisted Evil they will confiscate & run you out.
Thats the main reason for the signs so they have the right.

Makes sense to me. Enjoy yourself as long as you aren't ruining others' good times too.
