I think the pins tide is pretty much the same as port aransas. _________________ Fishing and Kayaking its a rough life but somebody has to do it.

michael,
This tide chart is a reliable tide chart with its home base being Port Aransas, Tx.

Make last minute adjustments for seasonal wind influences as needed; as they occur.
Also, be prepared to make time adjustments via tidal velocity vs. wind direction, as your reading it on the SaltH20, to reach the bay or back bay you choose to fish. _________________ Capt. Rex

TS is talkingt about the bays, and the bays behind PINS can't be commpared to Port A tides because it's too far from the ocean and the winds drive the majority of the tides(that and the seasonal high or low tides). Down at the Landcut area the water will flow the same direction for days. Ofcourse, there are exceptions, but rarely from my experience, and also my bud that owns a floater down there.
As for tides on the PINS shoreline, It's not the same as Port A, but close enough because you're gonna fish anyway....right? When the tide starts moving, fish harder. I've been told from a fairly reliable source that there's about an hour difference. Which way, I do not know. What's an hour or two difference? Nobody ever knows the exact time the high or low tide hits a particular area because there are way to many variables. Such as, it might be high tide where you are in the bay, but the water is still pouring off the flats a mile away, and causing the water to move fast through your area on it's way to the jetties. To understand the tides you have to be on the water every day, and keep a log.............Kyle _________________ I fish, therefore, I am................Happy! |

Michael, I think you can get that from a modern gps. I gave away my old dinasour, and am now looking for a newborn..........Kyle _________________ I fish, therefore, I am................Happy! |

Use this one as mentioned, Tony Amos' version for Port A. Then you add up to one hour later depending upon how far south you go.

We did not get a single thing on the black widow rigs with mullet. Only only on mono pulleys, or carolina rigs. Seems to me Rudy said you were hammering them and you were using flourocarbon.
I did no think it was that clear but it sure made a difference this past weekend.
I finally broke down and fished 25 pound trilene big game on a Carolina rig with mullet and finally got one of those little pesky blues after three mullet disappeared after an initial run with no hookups.

| How much does the leader rig actually make a difference? This weekend I was fishing with home made steel rigs like the ones you would get at walmart with single drop for hook and bottom snap for sinker. I dont know much about any other rigs, I have always used the above mentioned type. Any description or links with pics on others? |

Hey Trey,
I had a print out of the Amos chart the last trip and of course Billy had a printout of actual times and I would like to know what formula he used to arive at his times. I was adding what I thought right of about :30' and he said no about an hour from where we were!! I did not ask not wanting to be to uh well he might tell you how he was arriving at his calculations. It was not a chart but a printout of times and feet....
Just a thought...
