Those Boat Show people should be happy. With weather like this, there isn't much else to do fishing wise. March wind in January! Does anyone recall getting as much wind in January as we are getting this year? I sure don't.

No and I don't remember it being this warm either. Before we start the global warming talk keep in mind in Moscow today it was -22F and the high is only going to be -17F. Japan is seeing record snow.
My Azaleas are about to bloom too!

Don't count winter out yet. The ants outside my appartment are still stocking up. There has been a constant line for week or so of taking leaves and other organic matter back to their den. I think they believe winter is still gonna show up.

I didn't check the thickness of the pecan hull this past fall. The thicker the hulls the colder the winter. But up in Conroe the wind has been howling the last few days. The wind is settling down now, I hope it makes your way.

Yeah the wind has been bad pretty much this whole so called winter here in Houston. Something aint right with temps hitting upper 70's even low 80's in January. I think we have been in the mid 30's for lows twice this winter.

Yep, there has been plenty of winter this year, its just on the other side of the globe! Laughing

I saw a report yesterday morning of some kids walking out to their school bus in Japan down their driveway. The entire driveway was sided by over 12 foot of snow! Shocked This is in an area they say normally gets two to three feet a year, with at most 2 foot of accumulation! Shocked

I also saw a report last week about the magnetic north pole taking a sudden 60 mile jog towards Siberia this year. I wonder if there is any connections there we don't yet know about? Confused (Don't worry, the magnetic north pole normally moves around and has been as far south as Michigan on our end and as far south as Mongolia on the other side of the world - according to the report)

Tomatoes and mangos blooming, too. Helluva head wind coming back from Boerne today, and recorded a high of 81 degrees coming down I 37 north of Three Rivers. Had to turn on the AC.

Untill you see mesquiete trees starting to bud out a chance of a freeze is not over. Locals & old Indians used that for spring planting guide in this area for years & it does seem to hold true....Cant fool the mesquiete trees!

Boy that was short lived, after my last post I went outside and the wind was back up here in Conroe. I guess it was just a lull in the wind.

Yeprrrrs,as soon as they bud out you can forget about Old man winter,so we still have a few cold fronts, and if not get ready for some super hot months.

Yall are right about the mesquites, but the old trees are the ones to watch. Sometimes the younger ones get fooled. Another thing that my dad watched for was the arrival of the sissortales. He said that was pretty near the end of winter. Don't pay any attention to purple martins and hackberry trees though, they get fooled real often.
