Many of them are "going to" get eaten! I will try to find out from some of my biologist friends what is exactly happening with the finger mullet.
Good question!

T+ray,
Didn't Capt. Billy post sometime back about the fall migration convergence of like 4-6 different species? I seem to recall the convergence of: mullet, anchovies, reds, and jacks, with some others thrown in to boot. I kinna find the post.
Regards,

| For years I have watched and wondered where they were going. Also is there a spring run back north as horse mullet just farther out in deeper water? You would think with such a big migration there would be some well documented info on the web,but I could not find any. Rusty |

I have emailed your question about "Where do the finger mullet go when they are heading south?" to Dr. David Mckee at TAMUCC. I will post his comments when he replies.
Great question!

I am doing a story on it for Gulf Coast Connections and I was told that they go to deep water in the gulf forming massive shoals in the winter months. Regards Nickaway
get the mag next month for the rest of the story. |

| I think they are running far south to escape the nets of the winter texans that are due to arrive within the next few months. I hear they love smoked mullett. I personaly have not tried it but have been told you cannot beat it. LOL REPO |
