With all the kayakers cluttering up the waterways I think it is high time the TPWD implements some type of registration and fee. The money generated would be great for our fishery. There also needs to be some designated hours of use because they have no lights.

You only have to register them if you put a motor on them. Other than that, the gov't can stay the heck out of it. One more thing for them to throw a price on and make us pay for, huh? I'm sure they'll find a way to goad more money out of us next year without infringing upon our yaks. Like pluggin said, there is a light requirement already. _________________ B-Bill

That's an asinine suggestion. There are regulations in place for the kayaks and safety rules are in place. A light visible from 1 mile is a requirement in periods of darknes. I have also been stopped before for safety checks. Kayaks are populating the waterways therefore boaters and yakers need to beaware of each others presence and safety is priority #1

I didn't think Texans would recommend the government get involved in anything that they weren't already into.
I have to go along with the earlier post that says that power boats are cluttering the waterways. But I have a bigger problem with jet skis than anything.
I remember when I was a kid I could go just about anywhere on the water and only hear a boat pass occasionally.
Now it seems like I can't have 5 minutes without a jet ski or something zooming by. And they say that old Chevrolets and Harleys are noise pollution. Geez! _________________ Chad Landry

Boats are the ones tearing up the grass beds & Killing people on the side. Not to knock boat owners (I own one) Just you said kayaks are a problem is not so. _________________ Fish hard, fish the Bluff. Surrounded by water!

I think that boat owners should have to get a license before being allowed to operate, and I say that as a boat owner and a kayak owner. Leave the yaks alone, when was the last time a yak full of people drinking caused you any problems, oh wait there was that one time, LOL. _________________

Whoa Fella! You're wrong! I have both a motor boat and a kayak. It's not the kayaks causing the problems with grass beds, noise, large wakes damaging the coast line, running over people, and "cluttering" the water. Look in the mirror! There's room for all of us if we all exercise good judgment, safety, and concern for each other and our environment. My comment to power boaters is slow down. Boats today are bigger and faster than ever before, but just because it will go fast doesn't mean you have too. When I'm anchored out in the Upper Laguna Madre either in my boat or my kayak just off the ICW, I can always tell a real fisherman who passes in a boat. He/she always slow down before they get near to me and then speed up once past. That's courtesy; that's sportsmanship; that's safety; that's a fisherman.

If anything, what they really need are more "No motor" zones. Especially around some of the seagrass beds that are repeatedly torn up by folks with more hp than brains. In the end, it doesn't matter if you're a boater or kayaker (I am/have been both), the bottom line is responsibility and courtesy on both parts. _________________ B-Bill

Since you didn't bother to let anyone know hwo you really are I assume you're just playing a game. Why don't you just back to that other board where they do posts like this for humor. Deaver loves it.
