| I've tried most of the other brands over the years and have always gone back to Shimano. Definately my favorite from the standpoint of durability and smooth operation. |

I know it's not one of the brands you are looking at, but if you want a GREAT combo I suggest the H20 Express.
I have 3 of them and they are amazing reels. 10 bearings and wiffle spool for less than 80 bucks.
Academy has them all day long _________________ 2004 Carolina Skiff 17 DLX

| Curado's if you wipe them down with corrosion X when you get back and squirt a little speed x on the bearings every other use. Revo's are just as good and much more bullet proof but weigh more. I prefer the Curados due to weight. |

Long time Shimano fan here, but lately I had some back luck with them. (last one lasted 2 months). I went with ABU Revo this time. So far I like it. The mags on the revo are so much better than straight brakes like on a curado. (I don't use brakes, I'm a thumber)
So far so good.

The Daiwa 153 HST is pretty friendly. Now it comes in the HSTA.
Don't know what the A stands for......
The clicker mag on the left side is easy to adjust and it is a fast reel.
I think it's plenty fun and not a PITA. I have not been especially nice to mine and it's has not puked, much less burped yet...( it probably just imploded...)

I got a old Calcutta I like but I picked up a ABU Turnor at the shop and it's a great reel. It's the predecessor to the Revos I think _________________ What's good for me ain't necessarily good for the weak minded.... |
