Every baitcast reel I own is right hand reel. I'm right handed, and it feels more natural to hold the rod with my right hand and reel with the left. I can also control the rod and what it does with lure with my right hand better as well. With spin-cast, I have no problem with lt. hand reel.
I'm going to try a left hand model baitcast soon and see what happens. How many of you out there use left hand reels and are right handed?

Bayslammer, I'm left handed at technical stuff like writing and such but sports are all right handed. The brain does not care.
Example: I play guitar right handed. Being left handed, my correct hand is taking on all the "smart" fretboard stuff. Seems like being left handed is the way to go in this case, nevermind it's a "right" handed guitar. Right hand has to be in synch with plectrum or fingers but plays a lesser role. Debatable.
Example: Piano. Right hand smart. Ever see a left handed piano? Left hand has to do it's thing but the melody generally comes from the right. Debatable.
Example: I play all sports played right handed but I have to throw a frisbie with my left hand. Kicking is all left footed. The brain does not care.
Example: Eggbeaters. Seems strange that the handle is on the left side but I don't really notice it. All baitcasters I use are right handed........okay enough horse crud...
Left handed reel makes sense.
Something to consider, you're going to need some pliars to wrench that stick out of your right hand if you have been grinding all day and get skunked.
Nah.....
Buy one.

I am right handed and have used nothing but left handed bait cast (all of my reels
are left) reels for the last 25 years. I started when I bass fished a lot and casted all day. I got tired of switching hands every cast. A lot of times the lure was on the drop and I know I missed fish because of the switching. I will never go back to right hand reels of any kind.

Bayslammer, I'm right-handed also, and use a left handed reel. Feels all to natural to cast right handed and not switch hands and begin reeling.

I've never really considered trying a left handed reel baitcaster. It makes sense...if your right handed and cast with your right hand, why switch hands. When I simulate the rod and reel in my hands, it feels more natural reeling with the left. When I try it the other way I get all screwed up. Like rubbing your belly and scratching your head screwed up! I JUST HATE HAVING TO BUY SO MANY NEW REELS! Thanks Guys Very Happy

I am right handed and I cast with my right hand and then put the rod in my left hand and reel with the right. To me keeping the rod in my right and reeling with my left would be way to awkward.

I am sure it would be great. I find no problem switching from spinner and reeling left handed to rh baitcaster and I think I would like a left hand baitcaster. It sure makes sense since you're not constantly passing the reel back and forth. ( Back when I used to fish Smile

)

Nickaway has done it this way for quite some time for the exact same reasons.

I'm left handed and it seems so natural to me to cast with my left and reel with my right, being that I have had right-handed reels all my life. Being left-handed and growing up in a right-handed world, especially when the time I grew up most things are only provided right-handed unless you paid a premium on a premium product, which we couldn't afford, I just had to go along with right-handed stuff - guitars, rifles, DON'T use a right-handed Remington 1100 if you're a leftie without a full face-shield, fishing gear, vehicles, machine tools, power tools, etc. I finally ended up, once I was grown and could afford things on my own, with single shot rifles and learning to kill on one shot, scoped handguns, pump shotguns, rt-handed guitar (would be most unnatural to me to work the frets with my rt hand on a lft hand guitar,) and I am perfectly happy using right-handed baitcaster and not having to switch. Most spinners I cast with the left and reel with the right - that means if I end up borrowing one from somebody they have switched the handle so I have to switch it back. GO with the left hand baitcaster - I think you will find it more natural and lots more convenient not having to switch hands after casting.

I'M ALSO A LEFTY AND IT'S SUPER TO THROW LEFT AND RETRIEVE RIGHT. INTERCHANGABLE SPINNING REELS ARE THE GREATEST.

I am left-handed except when batting or cutting paper.

I use bait cast with right side handles and is natural to me. I tried the left handle reels and nearly broke my wrist.

But, all my spinners are left handles.

Go figure, but this is what works for me.

I recommend buying a cheapy or borrow a left handle bait caster and see what you think.

I am right handed and use a left hand baitcaster. I started with a right handed curado because the left handed ones were not as readily available but once I made the switch I never went back. For the last few years I have been using an old model Curado 201BSF that is my absolute favorite reel. I grew up using spinning reels and always had the handle on the left side so the Lefty baitcaster just feels more natural to me and I get better rod action with my right hand.

I, for one, am left handed, and throw with left hand and reel with right hand, no switching for me.

I am left handed but right eyed. I shoot long guns right handed but with pistols I shoot them left handed but look with my right eye. I use right handed bait casting reels. I always wondered why the crank was on the right side of them.

im right handed but I use both. For top waters its a must to use a left handed reel. I have a left handed curado , and a right handed chronarch. I use the chronarch for soft plastics mostly or letting the lure drift down current. all my spinners are set to reel with my left hand. I really cant throw a top water with a right handed handle reel.. The lefty will take some getting use too but once you get it down you will never look back.

I also use both left and right hand baitcasters. The right hand I use when I am tossing jigsand spoons. I have much better rhythm with the left when I am tossing topwaters. The left hand reel is my baby, Abu Revo SL.
