Got up at 0200 and played around with the chat room and downloaded other programs. Loaded up my truck at 0500 and stopped at Valero on Rodd Field Rd. for a Monster drink and some ice. Drove down SPID to Padre Bali Park and entered the park. Drove past Bob Hall Pier to the south. The pier is open and free. I parked South of the pier about 500 yards. Set up rod holders and baited up in the dark. Oh, I used the LED lanterns I bought. Caught about 7 good sized whitings and one Pomp before the cold front hit. I saw a rainbow over King ranch too. Tried to get a picture but it didn't come out good. Here's some pictures from my morning fishing alone. It was very peaceful......

Nice catch Sapo. Thanks for the report. I got a question for you though. I used my DCD3 Rigs with the spinners but could not catch any Pompano, what kind of bait do you use with yours to catch the pomps and how deep are you fishing? I went last Wednesday the water was clear, but I didn't catch anything with the rig. I was using Pink Gulp Fishing Strips on the rig. Let me know please sir.

Jeff

Jeff, for some weird reason they weren't biting that day... Moon or something. I got the Pomp in the second gut. It was a small one, but I was hungry and it was hooked weird so I kept it. I was using HEB shrimp and shrimp flavored fish bites... The rig only assists catching fish... Ralph Wade said the fish will bite when the fish want to bite.. We just have to be there ready. I got the LED lanterns off the internet. I have seen them at Academy in the camping section..They aren't as bright as a propane lantern. Google "LED Lanterns" to find all kinds of them.. I got 3 of them for $14.99 I believe...

Here's a nice one from cabelas: http://www.cabelas.com/cabelas/en/templates/links/link.jsp;jsessionid=0M4MWC1ZTN3GRLAQBBKCCNNMCAEFKIWE?id=0041796517575a&type=product&cmCat=froogle&cm_ven=data_feed&cm_cat=froogle&cm_pla=0470404&cm_ite=0041796517575a&_requestid=50356
